This beautiful piece had us at hello. Bespoke made in London, 1971, the ring is over 50 years old. Modelled in solid 18ct the ring is simple yet beautifully designed, with a chunky yellow gold band and bespoke collet to house a gorgeous natural sapphire.
The sapphire is a desirable cushion mixed cut with the perfect vibrant blue tone. The gemstone has been cut relatively flat in order to maximise the spread of the stone, which is an impressive 9mm at the widest point. The result is an impactful gemstone with a slight window into its natural crystal and feather inclusions, which gets our gemmology brains very excited indeed. There is no evidence of heat present.
The sapphire has been carefully claw set to each corner providing some safety to the stone alongside a pretty design feature. Overall, in good condition there is a very small chip to a kite and pavilion facet visible with magnification, as well as some light surface wear throughout.
Just an exceptional piece and one that would make a gorgeous alternative engagement ring or everyday piece. We even love the idea of this as a striking signet ring.
