A truly beautiful antique brooch in 15ct gold. The brooch is set with a deep blue shield cut sapphire to the top, carefully claw set (one claw missing its tip) into the bar. Suspended from this is a further sapphire, this in the perfect periwinkle blue. The larger stone is estimated at 2.80ct in weight and is cut in a desirable mixed cut, a hybrid between a step cut and a cushion cut. Both sapphires are natural in origin and on inspection no evidence of heat treatment can be seen. There are some age-related chips and nibbles to the pavilion and girdle of both stones visible with magnification, but overall they are offered in excellent condition.
This piece would be viable for a conversion, either into a pendant or a ring. If you wish for us to assist in this please contact us to discuss.
