An exceptional original art deco sapphire and diamond ring. The centre stone is a large powder blue sapphire in a desirable elongated cushion cut. The ring had been well loved and the centre stone had abraded facets when it came to us, but we have carefully un-set and polished the over 6ct natural gem and returned it to its full glory. The sapphire is thought to be un-treated with a scattering of natural feather inclusions running through the table and kite facets of the stone, although the ring sapphire remains eye clean when worn. 
 
The impressive sapphire is set in a quintessential art deco mount with further baguette cut sapphires framed by stepped diamond shoulders. The baguette sapphires tell the tale of this antique piece with softened facets from years of love but remain beautiful to the naked eye with a delightful steel blue tone. The strong geometry of the ring is echoed in the gallery which has hand pierced architecture that is so indicative of the ring’s era.
