A whimsical art nouveau pendant in hollow 18ct gold. This beautiful piece dates from mid-late 1800s France and is the pinnacle of French craftsmanship. Signed E.Dropsy who was a famed French medallist and produced a number of similar medallions during his lifetime.
The front of the medallion shows a beautiful woman, her hair swept into a loose bun with a diamond encrusted necklace that glitters as she turns to a hovering bird. To the reverse there is an intricately embossed frame of flowers that perfectly curve around the medallion as though they are climbing up a tree in the secret garden. The only wear to note is a small dent to the reverse, which looks much worse in the photos as it has been taken at an angle to really highlight it.
