A sentimental locket from the late 1800s. The gold plated piece bares the simple enamelled phrase ‘in memory of’ across the front in distinctive black enamelling. To the inside of the locket there is a traditional glass compartment, which holds intricately plaited hair, done to commemorate the passing of a loved one. We are always so touched by these enduring mementos of love, which remain for centuries commemorating the life of someone lost to time. Offered in beautiful antique condition the locket has some patches of discolouration alongside a shallow dent to the back, but overall is in excellent condition for its age.
