A truly unique antique cocktail ring in 14ct gold. This beautiful piece likely comes from the continent as 14ct gold was seldom used in antique British jewellery and bares both an antique 14ct hallmark and a modern 14ct hallmark.
The ring features two sizable old mined cut diamonds to the centre. The diamonds are slightly different sizes, one estimated at 0.25ct and the other 0.15ct but look similar in size due to the optical illusion of their bespoke bezel settings. Both diamonds are in good condition, there are some carbon inclusions, as well as some surface reaching fractures, but these are tiny and only visible with a loupe.
Surrounding the two centre stones is a halo that perfectly hugs the diamonds. The unique halo is set with an estimated 0.35ct of antique diamonds. These diamonds are also in good condition, however the cuts of the stones vary between old mined cut, single cut, and one rose cut. This variation in cuts of stone lead us to believe that some stones are replacements, although they are all from the same era. Please note there is a very slight split to the shank visible only with careful inspection with a loupe at one part of the ring, but this does nothing to affect the durability of the ring and has been assed as something better left as part of this special piece's history.
A beautiful and unique ring that would make a stunning alternative engagement ring or cocktail ring.
Please note that the modern 585 hallmark is a second hand hallmark applied at a later date and does not relate to the age of the piece, which is believed to be c.1910.
