Antique target rings are ever popular and it is so easy to see why. Indicative of the Art Deco era these delicious pieces are characterised by contrasting halos of gemstones and diamonds, that give a bullseye appearance. This wonderful example is French and began life as a brooch but has been sympathetically converted into a ring so that she can be enjoyed all the time. The centre holds a 0.45ct transitional cut diamond in a classic milgrained edge bezel setting, surrounded by a halo of calibre cut, natural, blue sapphires. The diamond is perfectly white, graded G, and sparkles so much when turned, despite its lower clarity grade, however none of the inclusions are visible with the naked eye. The sparkling diamond is in good condition overall but there is a very small chip right to the side of the stone, visible only with very careful examination with a loupe, this does not affect the beauty or durability of the piece.
The sapphires have been cut to mm precision and carefully set by hand so that they perfectly encircle the centre stone. It is common to find halos like this with significant damage to the antique stones or with stones missing, but these sapphires are perfect with no flaws to note.
The sapphires are then hugged by a boarder of more diamonds, perfectly white and fiery. The diamonds too are offered in excellent condition, however on close inspection there is one brilliant diamond that has snuck in amongst the other single cut stones and is likely a replacement.
Such a pretty ring and your chance to grab a bargain of a target ring, perfect as an engagement ring or some right hand bling.
