One of the most gorgeous belle epoque tiara rings we have seen. The belle epoque era was France’s answer to the Edwardian and Art Deco era taking Britain by storm. Belle epoque jewellery is adorned with delicate, feminine lines, usually set with light coloured diamonds and gemstones. Platinum was just becoming prevalent, a strong metal that allowed delicate settings without compromising on durability, here we see a delicate tiara ring in yellow gold, but tipped and accented by platinum, ensuring your wonderful stones are not lost.
The ring has two main diamonds, an old cut and a rose cut pear. The old cut has a wonderful light tint of yellow to it, which is really accented by the whiteness of the other diamonds and the platinum setting, with a beautiful open culet and lots of fire. Whilst in contrast, the rose cut pear diamond is of a higher colour and clarity, accentuating the yellowness of the old cut stone, and sparkling in the light. These two antique stones are in good overall condition, however there is a small chip to the table of the old cut and a few tiny nibbles on the girdle of the pear, only visible under magnification.
The two beautiful antique diamonds are accented by a further two bezel set rose cut diamonds, and eight smaller rose cuts set into the delicate, curved, shank. The piece is not hallmarked but has been tested as 18ct gold with platinum accents and collets. Although there is no hallmark we suspect this is a French piece due to the design and age of the ring.
