A beautiful deep teal green sapphire ring c.1900. The centre stone at first glance looks to be a very deep greenish-blue, almost black, but as soon as it catches the light you can see the most incredible ripple of bright greens and blues, like the deep sea on a sunny day. The natural gemstone is estimated as 3.15ct in weight, with a nearly 10mm spread and a desirable antique cushion cut. The stone is offered in good overall condition with only some light surface wear noted to its table facets.
 
Surrounding the sapphire is a halo of sparkling old mined cut diamonds totalling an estimated 0.84ct in weight. Every stone has been painstakingly hand faceted, meaning each slightly different from the next, but somehow they look like they should have never been apart. The antique diamonds are bright and white with lots of fire as they are turned in the light with no eye visible inclusions or wear, although there are a few very small nicks to one or two stones visible with a loupe. 
 
The stones are set into a low-profile halo that, whilst sizable, sits low to the hand for maximum comfort. The ring is finished with delicate double shank that forms a split shank at the head of the ring, quintessential of the Edwardian era.
