A striking Edwardian era ring in rich yellow gold. The head of the ring is set with a sizable natural opal estimated to weigh 6.50ct with a spread of 18mm x 9mm. The vibrant opal shows beautiful flashes of colour as it is turned in the light and is overall in beautiful condition despite some deep scratches visible with a loupe, although these are very superficial. There is some discolouration to note towards the girdle of the stone, this is not damage to the stone but instead evidence that the opal has been glued into the setting, a practice relatively common to see, but doesn’t affect the durability of the piece.
The opal is crowed by two clusters of old mined cut diamonds, one at each end. The trilogy of antique stones each set in a white gold bezel that makes a beautiful design feature. The ring is finished with a traditional yellow gold shank.
