A beautiful emerald and pearl cruciform ring from the Victorian era. The head of the ring appears to be older than the sympathetically added shank, possibly starting life as a stick pin, however it has been converted decades ago to make it a more wearable piece.
The centre is a glowing green emerald that is the ideal bottle green colour with light that appears to come from within and illuminate the stone, free from significant inclusions or surface wear, common with these sought-after gems, the stone is a truly beautiful to behold.
Whilst there is no doubt that the emerald is the star of the show, it is perfectly complimented by a cruciform of pearls surrounding it, sandwiched by tiny balls of gold. Overall, the pearls are in good condition with a bright grey toned lustre to their nacre. There is some evidence of old glue work to the collets of the pearls which is common to see in antique pearl piece and doesn’t affect the durability of the ring overall.
The ring has a simple, but complimentary, split shank that curves around the head of the ring with two bands of gold that meet and form a two banded shank. Simple, but perfect in design.
