A stunning, all original, art deco ring from the 1920s. This large cocktail ring was sure to be the property of an important lady about the town, we can just see her elegantly dancing in the dance hall and enjoying cocktails with her friends after the war.
The style of the ring is quintessentially art deco, with geometric lines and feathers following the natural facet lines of the central baguette cut diamond. The centre stone is exceptional quality; weighing approximately half a carat, it is F/G in colour and VVS clarity, despite a small chip to the pavilion which can be seen through the table of the stone under magnification. Surrounding the central bezel set stone is a large halo of old cut diamonds, which themselves total approximately 0.64ct, taking the total carat weight of the piece to just shy of 1.15ct. The old cut diamonds are on the whole well matched and high clarity grades, however one or two are slightly warmer in colour and are an SI2 opposed to the VS grades of the others. This difference in clarity and colour is common in antique pieces, where finding matching stones was extremely difficult, and points towards the piece being original.
The eye catching cocktail ring has a sizable length of 21.5mm, which means it has spectacular finger presence, however it is not cumbersome, with most stones set flush to the metal or in bezels, meaning it does not catch or feel like you are wearing a large ring.
A truly unique and special piece that is sure to become a family heirloom and treasured for life.
