A truly stunning Victorian locket in solid 15ct gold with an applied enamelled horseshoe. This tactile locket is beautiful from every angle with a smooth rounded shape that is intricately engraved across the entire surface with a fine floral pattern. To the centre is a forget-me-not blue horseshoe in pristine condition. The horseshoe was a classic symbol for luck and was said to ward away evil spirits, and this piece was undoubtably commissioned with this in mind, to have such a fine example is a true joy. To the reverse the locket still has its original glass, which is also in excellent condition, and is lined with baby blue silk.
