An unusual gemstone ring from c.1900. The head of the ring is a mixture of the finest emeralds, rubies and diamonds, carefully joined together to make a beautiful open work square design. The natural gemstones are truly tantalising, from the inner glow of the large emerald cuts to the fire of the old mined diamonds, it is a fine quality piece that really takes your breath away.
The gemstones are in good condition overall, with the larger emerald cuts showing little to no wear, which is unusual for a gemstone known for its brittleness. There is, however, some wear to the smaller and emeralds and central ruby, with chips observed in the emeralds and surface wear to the table of the ruby. This wear is only visible with magnification and not with the naked eye. Aside from this the head of the ring is slightly tilted forwards on the shank, which is a little thin, but none of this affects the durability or beauty of this oh so impressive piece.
