A fine 1800s garnet ring. The head of the ring is set with a juicy pear shaped garnet, its domed surface perfectly showcasing its deep raspberry colour. To the naked eye the garnet is in good antique condition, although when viewed with magnification it has some surface wear and scratches to the crown as well as a chip to the pavilion, nothing that is not expected with the age of the piece. The garnet is framed by a chunky bezel setting which aside from a small area of damage is in good condition and the gemstone is set securely.
Whilst we love the unique pear-shaped cabochon there is no doubt that the shank is the star of the show in this ring. A chunky 18ct gold band that has been intricately had detailed and engraved with floral detailing, indicative of the Georgian era. Weighing just shy of eight grams of gold this is a fine quality antique ring that feels luxurious on the hand.
