A truly exceptional antique solitaire ring heralding from c.1900s France. Modelled in 18ct white gold the ring bares the traditional eagle’s head hallmark to the outside of the shank. However, the focal point of the piece must be the exceptional sapphire. Weighing approximately 3.20ct the deep inky blue stone is almost black in some lights, giving a marvellous moody look to the precious stone. The sapphire has been independently verified by a gemmologist as showing no signs of heat treatment, making it a truly rare gemstone.
The ring is offered in good overall condition for its age despite some slight discolouration to the metal and slight cloudiness to the rose cut diamonds. The central sapphire is in equally good condition although there are a couple of nibbles to the girdle, but these aren’t obvious to the naked eye and are very much expected with the age of the piece.
