A beautiful c.1880 navette shaped ring made in France. The marquise shaped head of the ring is studded with approximately 0.60ct of antique diamonds; mostly old mined cut, but with an additional rose and table cut stone. The lively antique stones perfectly accentuate the romantic outline of the navette ring with their sparkling hand cut facets. The stones are perfectly imperfectly matched with various cuts, shapes and colours, but the overall affect is beautiful. Overall the stones are in good condition with only a few small nicks to their surface facets visible with magnification.
The head of the ring measures a sizable 22mm in length for maximum impact, whilst remaining comfortable with a low profile quintessential of the late Victorian era. Modelled in buttery yellow gold the navette is finished with an ornate shank that tapers from the shoulder of the ring, where we see the French eagle head hallmark for 18ct gold. There is some darkening to the metal at one side where we believe a historic repair has taken place, we can happily polish this out free of charge before shipping, however just be aware this will remove the antique patina from the rest of the gold.
