This darling ring likely dates to the Georgian period, with quintessential floral chased halo and a central, foil -backed, amethyst. The amethyst is a beautiful light lilac colour, with just the hint of silver to it from the foiling underneath, which was common practice in the 1800s. The stone is surrounded by a halo of deep floral goldwork, which must have taken weeks to hand carve, and is in perfect condition.
The head of the ring appears to be gold cased, which is typical of the period, however the, later, shank is solid gold. This is most certainly a conversion piece, the head of the ring likely starting out life as either a button or brooch, however it is an old conversion, possibly done in the Victorian era.
