A traditional, Georgian, flat cut garnet ring c.1800. We have often seen and dealt with round stones of this design, however we have never seen a flat cut garnet in this wonderful elongated oval shape. The stone is a deep red with vibrant flashes as it catches the light (the photos make it look incredibly dark but see the photo of it on for a true representation of colour) helped by a delicate foiled backing that sits behind the stone in the traditional closed collet setting. The stone is overall in good condition for its 200 year age, although when viewed under magnification there are some light surface scratches and two chips to the kite facets, these are not detrimental and cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Set in solid 9ct gold and crafted in the traditional manor, we suspect that the 1.2mm shank is a later addition, however it is sympathetic to the style of the piece and really helps to make the fabulous stone the centre of attention.

PLEASE ADD RING SIZING AS A PRODUCT TO YOUR CART
We offer a ring re-sizing service by our antique specialist for a small fee, starting at £40.
Most of our rings can be resized, but if they can’t we will stipulate this in the description.
As a rule we will only alter a ring by three UK sizes. If you would like to size a ring more than three UK sizes (either up or down) please contact us on a case by case basis and we will try and accommodate you as best as possible.
If you have any product altered or resized it can still be returned, however you will then be refunded the cost of the ring, minus alteration & postage costs.
Sizing takes approximately 1-2 weeks.
