A lovely antique tourmaline and diamond cluster ring in platinum, from the estate of Mrs Simpson, wife of Captain John F. Simpson, Staff Captain of HMS Lusitania (and Captain of the Verentin). He died on board the latter vessel in 1923.
The centre stone is a forest green tourmaline, bezel set and surrounded by a chunky halo of old mined cut diamonds, totalling approximately 1ct, set in a rectangular profile setting. The crown facets of the tourmaline have softened with age and use, but otherwise the ring is offered in excellent condition.
