A captivating belle epoque emerald and diamond dress ring in 18ct gold. The centre stone is a vibrant bottle green emerald in a desirable octagonal cut. The deep green stone has an ethereal glow from its fine internal inclusions that swirl and twirl through the precious gem. Mounted in a multi-claw setting that accentuates the octagonal shape of the stone whilst offering it protection from any significant wear. The emerald does have a few surface reaching inclusions and nicks visible with a loupe, but this is to be expected with age and overall it is a fantastic stone.

Surrounding the emerald are two clovers of sparkling old mined cut diamonds. The hand faceted stones totalling an estimated 0.75ct in weight are held in fine claw settings that give them the appearance of floating on the hand. The head of the ring is finished with diamond studded shoulders for that perfect 1900s style.

Whilst the history of the ring is unknown we believe that the piece has been re-hallmarked at some point with a more modern 1980 Sheffield stamp; we suspect this was done at the same time the sizing balls were added to the inside of the shank. To the reverse of the head there is some evidence of repair and wear consistent with the age of the ring, a fissure between the centre stone and the diamonds as well as some small areas where additional gold has been applied; this has been done well and we love seeing parts of this fine rings story.
