An exceptional antique cluster ring c.1920-1930. Modelled in platinum the outer shank is stamped with a dogs head, the French hallmark given to verify the purity of the metal.
The centre of the ring is set with a large oval sapphire, faceted in a typical old cut oval shape. The deep teal coloured stone has been independently verified as a no-heat stone, likely originating from Australia, Thailand or East Africa. With over 90% of all sapphires being subjected to heat treatment this is a truly rare gemstone.
The sapphire is estimated between 3.30ct – 3.50ct and measures an impressive 11-12mm in length for maximum finger coverage. Surrounding the centre stone is a halo of glittering transitional cut diamonds, typical of the 1900s. The diamonds are of equal quality to the centre diamond with bright white colour and minimal internal inclusions. Totalling an estimated 0.64ct in weight the diamonds add a beautiful scalloped boarder to this timeless ring.
Offered in excellent antique condition overall the only wear to note is some very light surface wear to the sapphire and evidence of a historical resize to the rear of the shank.
