We are committed to bringing you the most exceptional natural gemstones here at SHJB and this early 1900s cocktail ring checks that box. The centre of the ring holds a giant natural sapphire, estimated at 7.50ct in weight with a sizable spread of 14mm x 10.5mm. The deep inky blue stone has been beautifully fashioned to show off its natural straight colour zoning across the table, a natural phenomenon that occurs as the sapphire crystal grows and is subjected to changing environmental conditions. The result is a unique stripey blue gemstone that looks different in almost every light.
Surrounding the bezel set sapphire are chunky rose cut diamonds in a cushion shaped halo. Set into contrasting white gold the rose cut diamonds have a grey-ish tone to their hand cut facets, flecked with natural carbon inclusions. With age a number of these diamonds have small chips or nicks to them, but this is only visible with magnification. Aside from this and some surface scratches and nibbles to the sapphire the ring is in excellent condition.
