An exceptional mid 1800s locket in solid 18ct yellow gold. The entire locket has been beautifully detailed with fine engraving, which allows the raised enamelled star to stand out against the textured gold background. The starburst is beautifully studded with rose cut diamonds and a central opal. Sadly, the opal is slightly chipped and there is some enamel loss to the star, but we don’t believe this detracts from the beauty of the piece in the slightest.
 
To the interior of the locket we find an original glass panelled compartment, which at present houses some discoloured paper but is ready to hold your own keepsakes. To the other side we see the traditional split pin method that secures the starburst motif to the outside of the locket, this is in good condition aside from two small areas of lead repair.
 
A truly exceptional locket that would make the perfect heirloom for any collection.
