An impressive original Georgian pendant in a traditional cut down collet. The pendant is silver, cased in 9ct gold, as is commonplace in Georgian jewels.
The exceptional piece is set with rich honey toned imperial topaz to make up the outline of the cross. These have been foil backed to enhance their autumn toned colours and are offered in excellent overall condition with only light nibbles and scratches present, which is to be expected with age.
Please note that one of the stones has been replaced with a sympathetically coloured paste stone, this blends well and adds to the story of the pendant, but does need to be mentioned.
To the reverse we find the remains of a pin, where the pendant origionally would have been worn as a brooch, and some tarnishing and lead-work, which again is not uncommon of jewellery from the early 1800s.
A magnificant and important piece that hasn't been available on the market for decades.
