A true statement ring, this vintage piece is set with an impressive opal plaque to the centre, estimated at 4.40ct in weight. The natural opal has a beautiful play of colour that dances across its surface with subtle hints of green, red and blue glittering together. Held in a 9ct white gold collet the ring is accented by small heart shaped shoulders, each set with a white sapphire.
Interestingly the shank is a higher carat than the collet, testing and marked at 18ct. This leads us to believe the ring has been re-shanked at some point, potentially to accommodate a significant sizing down. However, this has been done well and the piece looks original to the un-trained eye.
