A truly unique antique ring. Baring both Russian hallmarks, and French import marks, it is believed that the ring was made in Russia but sold in France in the 19th century.
The hollow head of the ring has a beautiful octagonal silhouette that surrounds a hand painted miniature, accented by a studded frame of gold. The miniature, and resin that secures it, is slightly worn and discoloured with age but appears to depict a woman staring longingly into the distance, her hair swept into a fine up-do. There is a romantic and whimsical charm to this sentimental piece, the subject must have been truly cherished to be commemorated in such a way.
The special ring is finished with a flat, tapered, shank that perfectly compliments the geometric style of the ring whilst allowing the portrait to remain the centre of attention. An exquisite piece.
