A gorgeous antique sapphire and diamond cluster ring in 18ct gold. The ring holds a deep royal blue sapphire to the centre, held securely in a multi claw setting (please note the tip of one claw is missing), surrounded by the most perfect halo of old cushion cut diamonds. Each chunky antique diamond has been carefully hand cut with no two stones being a perfect match, adding to the unique charm of the ring. Estimated at over half a carat in weight the diamonds are bright, white and fiery with only minimal ear observed with a loupe. The diamonds have been set in a traditional silver cut down collet setting, indicative of the early to mid 1800s.
The ring is finished with a timeless split shank, which may possibly be a later addition. The shank of the ring is hallmarked for 18ct gold and we believe assayed in 1867, although the date letter and duty stamp are sadly worn with age and therefore hard to decipher.
