A striking antique locket-back pendant c.1870-1890. Modelled in hollow 15ct yellow gold the front of the pendant is wonderfully crafted with ornate swirls of gold, accented with royal blue enamel. There is some wear to the enamel visible, but we do not believe it detracts from the beauty of this fine antique piece. 
 
To the reverse of the pendant there is the original locket back compartment which holds one lock of blonde hair and one of brunette, accompanied by the gold initials ‘E.W’ and ‘F.W’; perhaps this is a pendant commemorating the life of siblings or parents? There is some wear to the glass of the locket and the sentimental design of the initials seems to have shifted a little with the centuries it has been cherished, but otherwise it is in good condition.
 
The pendant is finished with a bespoke bale that mimics the beautiful swirling gold and enamel of the front of the pendant.
