  • A unique early 1900s navette ring set with sparkling old cut diamonds surrounded by calbibre cut gemstones. The antique diamonds graduate in size and total an estimated 0.20ct, each diamond set in a white gold setting that accentuates their higher colour. With magnification a few nicks can be seen to the diamonds but otherwise they are offered in excellent condition.

Surrounding the diamonds is an intricate halo of reddish-pink gemstones. Each stone has been meticulously hand cut to perfectly slot next to the other in a continuous boarder of gems, this is a technique called calibre cutting and was extremely popular in the early 1900s-1920s. Often calbibre cut stones are synthetic as it offered the gemstone cutter the assurance that the gemstone colours would match perfectly, giving you that sought after result.

Because of the delicate and precise nature of the calibre setting it is not unusual to see true antique examples with stones either missing or replaced. Interestingly it does appear that some of the gemstones have been replaced here, with a section of five stones being garnets opposed to synthetic rubies and one slight break to the setting surrounding one ruby, although this has been done well and unless you are trained in gemmology you would never know.

This collectible ring is finished with an intricately scrolled and detailed gallery and a timeless yellow gold shank. Due to the setting of the rubies we wouldn’t recommend sizing this piece.
