A pretty and unique sapphire ring with a double halo of diamonds and ruby accents. This one-of-a-kind ring dates to 1890-1910 and is hand crafted in a perfectly-imperfect stylised lozenge shape that mimics the soft edges of the central, cushion cut, stone.
 
The inky blue, natural, sapphire is set in a bezel and surrounded by two stepped halos of pave set, old cut, diamonds. The diamonds are on the whole well matched and in good condition, however there are a few replacement stones and one is chipped. The glittering stones are the accented perfectly by arrows of rubies at each corner of the centre stone. The ruby arrows comprise each of a French cut ruby and a trillion mixed cut, giving the impression of pointing in towards the centre stone and making a cruciform shape. 
 
The shank of the ring is formed of 18ct yellow gold, which also makes up the base of the head, however the top of the ring is silver, a common choice amongst goldsmiths in the 1800s, as it was more cost efficient and softer to set stones into.
